Taylor

Taylor Swift may be the most unusual of pop artists: one capable of effectively bridge the gap between country and pop, conquering the globe. Swift shed her country roots as though they were part of her skin, revealing she was perhaps the savviest pop-oriented singer/songwriter of her time, one who could harness the zeitgeist make it personal and also perform in the opposite direction. Her early songs, such as the neotribute in tribute to Tim McGraw were a testament of her ability. But, her follow-up album Fearless of 2008 proved to be a songwriter finding her voice as well as a broader fan base. Fearless became a worldwide hit and not just in North America (where it was certified six times platinum for the Top Ten Hits Love Story and "You Belong with Me") but in Canada, Australia and the U.K. and many other countries. Speak Now delivered almost two years later and consolidated this popularity and pushed Swift into the stratosphere of fame. In the three albums following (Reputation 2017, 1989 2014, and Red 2012) Red 2012, 1989 2014 as well as Reputation 2017. Swift's fame only grew. This was a sure indication that she was in an entirely new world of pop that she could be part of. She was at the top of pop even when she dropped her own style on her sister albums folklore & Evermore in 2020.
